MIMO radar is developed based on the existing radar system, it can be seen as a phased array radar upgrade version. By using arbitrary waveforms of the transmitting array, each transmitting antenna of MIMO radar can emitting non-correlated or orthogonal signals. Typically, we can divide MIMO radar into two regimes. The first regime referred to as statistical MIMO radar. The second regime referred to as coherent MIMO radar or centralized MIMO radar. The DOA estimation is an important part of MIMO radar parameter estimation problem. The MUSIC and ESPRIT algorithm is the most popular algorithms and most promising in current. In this paper, we mainly focus on MIMO radar DOA estimation based on high order cumulant. Combined fourth-order cumulant processing and bidirectional spatial smoothing technique with MUSIC algorithm. Then, Combined fourth-order cumulant processing with two ESPRIT algorithms, Least Square and Total Least Square. Computer simulation shows that algorithms based on fourth-order cumulant in case of additive colored Gaussian noise perform better versus algorithms based on covariance matrix.
