Laser diode due to its simple structure, high transition efficiency of light and electricity, long life, small size and many other advantages, it is a widely used in the fiber-optic communications, military, medical, pumping and their material processing. However, due to the asymmetry of the optical waveguide and thermal characteristics of the semiconductor laser affect the beam quality and lifetime, make the application had been limited in many respects.This paper is based on the analysis of the laser diode beam characteristics, comparative analysis through a different lens, study of using double-curved lens compress focus in the fast-slow shaft of semiconductor lasers, use the Zemax software to its simulation design, obtained after optimization of the double-curved lens curvature radius and focal length. And then the semiconductor laser is collimated to obtain the angle of divergence of collimated, with small core diameter multi-mode fiber to be coupled and give the coupling efficiency is88.78%. Finally, using ANSYS finite-element software three packages of In solders, gold-tin solder and A1N transition heat sink were analyzed, obtain the temperature contours and calculate the steady state thermal resistance, from the heat conduction angle discussed three package. The above work contributed to a semiconductor laser and optical fiber coupling module in practical application.
