As the advantages of high accuracy of temperature control and smaller volume, it has wide application in fields such as laser weapon, measuring device and aerospace engineering. However, the high power dissipation of power supply and temperature control system declines the electro-optics efficiency of the whole system. In this thesis, a ring LDA side-pumped Nd:YAG laser without water cooling was designed.First, a ring LDA pump module without water cooling was designed. The choice of wavelength and the configuration of Bar was determined. Second, based on the light field distribution internal the laser crystal, the physical model and mathematical model were put forward and simulated. It drew a conclusion that the light field distribution of ring LDA pumped Nd:YAG without water cooling was approximate to single wavelength LDA ring-side pumped Nd:YAG Third, four-level rate equation of LD side-pumped Nd:YAG laser was put forward and solved. The threshold power and output power were simulated. The consequence was obtained that compared with laser pumped by single wavelength LDA, the laser designed in this thesis had higher threshold and lower output power. The disparity was within the allowed range while designing. This laser had low accuracy requirement of temperature controlling. It reduced the power dissipation of temperature controller and so did the whole device. It had an excellent performance between-40℃to50℃. This paper would widen the application of laser without water cooling.
