Formation Of Internet Rumors, Spread And Treatment Strategies

The advent of the era of network has opened up a new era of information and brought us convenient means of communication. However, it also leads to weak feelings among people. Malicious slander, the accusation and network abuse have become a new social stubborn illness. Under such circumstances, internet rumors arise at the historic moment. Some of them defame individual citizens, others fabricate public events. Internet rumors, speaking individually, destroy personal reputation, which causes mental distress to the victims; and in the largest sense, the internet rumors affect social stability, disturb the normal social order or cause potential threats, even damage the national image. Although network is a virtual place, it is by no means the "blind Angle" of moral and the "blind area" of the law. If someone considers the internet as a protective layer, and hurts others unscrupulously, even does something worse to satisfy their own desires and harms the social public interests, he will become the victim of one’s own evil deeds eventually. How to effectively defense and govern network rumors, however, is a big problem to be solved for the government.Starting from the connotation of Internet rumors, this paper tries to define characteristics and trend of Internet rumors. Then on the basis of the theory of multiple causes of Internet rumors from various angles, it will give theoretical analysis. And then based on the latest cases, it will point out the serious harmfulness of Internet rumors. Finally this paper will put forward the corresponding solutions. The author hopes that this research can help regulate the behavior of users of network transmission, strengthen the management of the network, offer scientific and effective governance strategies for the government, and play a positive role in our society’s harmonious development and stability.
