Campus network has become a very important platform on teaching, research, transaction management and other fields. Along with its function become morepowerful, reducing the investment, providing continuous service and more resourcesto meet the requirement of the user become one of the main problems in campusnetwork construction and development. It is known that virtualization technology could realize optimization ofcomputing resources and transparency of system structure by the abstract andsimulative resource. Storage virtualization, network virtualization and servicevirtualization, etc can not only reduce energy consumption, but also promoteperformance of equipment. Therefore, we can use virtualization technology torealizing the energy saving and emission reduction, high availability on campusnetwork. This thesis discusses high availability campus network system based onvirtualization. First, we survey the present situation of the campus network and somevirtualization technology. Aiming to various physical equipment, lower utilizationrate, higher failure rate, a demand analysis of high availability system based onvirtualization is presented. In stage of system design, three aspects: server, networkand storage are our main missions. This process uses some products of VMware, follows the principle of planning and design. Then, some details on the deployment ofvirtual server network architecture including physical part and virtual part are given. After of these, a two-node high availability architecture environment is built. Finally, the experimental result shows that this design could meet the requirement of systemdesign, and performance very well. The main works as follow:By analyzing of the current situation of campus network, high availabilityarchitecture on campus network is proposed. The utilization rate of resources improvesby reasonably virtualized the physical machine to two high performance server.Utilizing sharing external storage, multipath technology, we realize load balancein storage. By using network path redundancy, the failure rate of hardware and circuitwill be reduced. In virtual switch, the port of VMKernel which use in vMotion is built. It could make sure that the virtual machine will be migrate successful when some fault occurs. The hosts cluster and the storages cluster. Combine DRS with HA,resource integration and load evaluation are built. The three parts ensure system hasavailability.Through multipath technology, cluster technology, combined DRS with HA, thefailure rate reduces. At the same time, It realizes load balance between hosts andstorage space, improves the utilization rate of application system which in the hostand virtual machine. Finally, the high availability campus network is achieved. In all stage, we follow some principles, such as resource optimization, flexibility, efficiency and so on. According to the application system to the need of hardwareresources, we dynamically and reasonably allocate and recycle, realize clustermanagement in the server and safety use to user.
