It is the important research for the performance analysis of radarand computational electromagnetism that how to show the radar coverage and theinfluence of the atmospheric environment and complicated terrain to the detectionperformance of radar visually and efficiently. Based on the mathematical model ofradar electromagnetic propagation attenuation, visualization methods of radardetection range are given in free space and the correction method of radar detectionrange is proposed in the atmospheric environment and complicated terrain i n thearticle. The result indicates that the method can show the radar coverage incomplicated natural environment efficiently, visually and precisely. The major contentand contribution are as follows:1. The mathematical model based on the relationship between radar coverage andelectromagnetic propagation attenuation of radar is constructed through extending theclassical radar equation, which provides the data for the visualizati on.2. Applying the mixed sampling model to efficiently sample the space for radardetection, the visualization model is realized, which acts radar detection range as theboundary and ensures the accuracy and high efficiency of visualization.3. The simplified radar detection range model influenced by the atmosphericenvironment is proposed through studying the theory related on atmosphericenvironment, accurate influence of mist, rain and atmospheric temperature, humidityenvironment is compared quantificationally by the actual examples. The results showthat the model is not only simple and lifelike, but also is easy to implement in theproject, and represents radar detection range influenced by the temperature, humidity,mist and rain in atmospheric environment perfectly.4. Through analyzing and comparing the typical terrain correction theory,applying the principle of geometrics optics, the single peak and consecutive peakmodification algorithm of radar coverage in the complicated terrain is proposed,which is based on the mixed sampling model and makes full use of the relativeposition between radar detection range boundary and the complex terrain. Thecorrection of radar detection range influenced by complicated terrain is realized byapplying the correction algorithm and building the complicated terrain with DirectX.Through comparative analysis, the proposed correction methods are not only precise and lifelike, but also has the adaptability to complicated terrain.
