With advances in computer technology, the field of augmented reality has got rapid development in recent years. Mobile terminal, represented by iPhone is popularized rapidly in recent years and mobile computing ability has been rapidly improved. By using a mobile terminal, augmented reality software can meet the mobility needs. Building augmented reality applications on mobile terminal, users can experience new different features from augmented reality technology on PC platform. It allows users to get a variety of convenience that augmented reality technology brings in mobile environment.The thesis takes augmented reality as the entry Point, combined with the characteristics of the iPhone, studies city streets augmented reality techniques on iPhone platform. In the study process it’s found that traditional mobile phone map Apps display Places of Interest (Poi) information in plain type, and they are not intuitive and convenient enough for users. Augmented reality technology can improve this situation. This thesis adopts CS-based architecture. IPhone works as a client and requests service from Baidu LBS open platform and Dianping open platform over mobile network, and gets Poi information near the user’s current location. Composite utilization of GPS, compass, gyroscope and other equipment on mobile terminal is for implementation of tracking registration and registration between virtual object and real object. Augmented reality interface uses core graphics to render virtual layers. Taking the sociability characteristics of mobile Internet applications into account, the thesis also studies several ways to share information, including visiting the Sina Weibo open platform and sending Weibo. On the matter of system structure, the system defines a sensor subsystem for unified management of various sensors events, a data rendering subsystem for rendering of augmented reality interface, a data processing subsystem for data download, computation, transmission and database storage, a front-end display system for organizing and displaying the interfaces. From the concrete implementation of the function block, the system comprises a Poi information’s augmented reality display interface, map display interface, detailed information interface, collection interface, navigation interface, SMS sharing, e-mail sharing, Weibo sharing, making phone calls to shops and so on.Using sensor method, rather than visual method to achieve real-time tracking registration and registration between virtual object and real object, the system will not be limited to a certain geographical area. It is suitable for outdoor and indoor environment and has practical value.
