The traffic is the lifeblood of a city, it’s also the means of the urban survival and development. With the economic development and the continuous improvement of people’s living standards, human demand for transport that will continue to grow, along with urban transport will also bring more and more problems, for example, causing traffic congestion and environmental pollution. Practice shows that only the intelligent transportation is the fundamental way to solve the traffic problems in the city. And the intelligent traffic signal control system is an important field of the ITS. In order to achieve the intelligent traffic signal control, we need to solve the traffic modeling, intelligent optimization, engineering implementation and otherrelated issues.In this paper, according to the mode of China’s road transport planning, we establish the traffic system model. First, we use the four directions ofthe traffic lights time as the optimizing parameters and the largest access amount of the traffic as the optimization target variable, we establish the single intersection model, under the largest premise of the plurality of intersections flow, to ensure that the prevailing amount of a single intersection traffic also tends to the maximum, we establish the plurality of intersections model.In order to effectively optimize the parameters of the model and achieve real-time traffic signal timing optimization, we propose an improved elitist preservation of genetic optimization algorithm, improve the efficiency of the optimization of the model. Meanwhile, in order to ensure the system’s real time and stability, we use the adaptive crossover genetic algorithm to enhance the efficiency ofthe optimization algorithm.In this paper, we use GMR sensors and embedded Zigbee2007protocol stack CC2530to collect and control the traffic signal, and through the design and configuration of PC monitoring software to solve the systems engineering implementation issues, the experimental results show that the system can realize the intelligent control of the traffic signals, so it has a good application value.
