Speech communication is the simplest and most direct way to communicate betweenpeople. In the underwater acoustic environment, speech communication system that basedon acoustic communication theory can complete speech communication between the subseaequipments and the shore-based. For underwater staff, it is very necessary to convey theworking conditions of subsea equipments to controlling party or other nodes quickly,directly and accurately. It is the practical application of value driven the research onunderwater acousticspeech communication technology.In this paper, system hardware design, software design and system experiments will beexplicated to design a half-duplex speech communication system based OFDM and MBEspeech compression technology, with extended text transmission function and can be usedin communication between the latent and the shore-based. Hardware section includes designof speech signal processing platform based on AMBE3000and MSP430F5438, design ofdigital signal processing platform based on TMS320C6455and Xilinx FPGA. In addition,design of power and gain control module. In part of hardware design, overall framework ofthe speech system is given, centre chips used and hardware circuit interface that ralate tothe present system are also be described. Software section includes programming with Clanguage on MSP430F5438to complete data sending and receiving of speech signalprocessing platform, and controlling the states and parameters of AMBE3000. Andcompleting driving work and serial port data sending and receiving of digital signalprocessing platform by programming FPGA. In part of software design, the software workflow is introducted in detail.Finally, Verify the feasibility, stability and voice communication performance of theunderwater acousticvoice communication system through system power joint debugging,pool test and outside of field test in Fuxian Lake. Tests showed that the digitalunderwater acousticspeech communication system can reach the predetermined indicatorsof system design and has practical value that also has been delivered and put into use.
