| Micro-blog has developed into the most popular online platform for communication.Hundreds of government heads has their own Micro-blog accounts to interact with netizenfrom all over the world. Using Micro-blog as a new mean of conducting foreign affairs is notonly going with the stream but also the application of new internet technology on diplomacy.In recent years, a lot of scholars have doing research on internet political communicationfrom various aspects. And in this thesis, I decided to discuss the public diplomacy in micro-blog conducted by foreign embassies in China, analyze its communication characteristics,mechanism and impact.I did research on micro-blog’s communication characteristics from five key elements,namely, communicator, media, receiver, contents and feedback.The thesis is divided into five parts. First part is planned to explain different concept,like public diplomacy, media diplomacy, new media diplomacy and micro-blog diplomacy.The second part focused on the appearance and development of micro-blog diplomacy, give aoverall description of micro-blog diplomacy in China and compare it with other countries. Inthe third part, I choose US embassy’s Wei-bo as a case to do content analysis. And the fourthpart is based on the analysis for further discussion of communication mechanism of micro-blog diplomacy.And in the last part,I talk about the impact of micro-blog diplomacy ontraditional public diplomacy and political communication. |
