Our Newspaper Uighur "otherness" Of The Narrative

This paper mainly focuses on the news narration of how the People’s Dailyconstructs the media image of Uyghur minorities in the mainland of China. Throughanalyzing the approach of news narration used by People’s Daily, the paper tries totestify that the People’s Daily has formed the image of Uyghur minorities in China as“the Other” group against the Communism ideology the newspaper achieved.The paper uses the “four aspects of news narration” of Zeng Qingxiang as thebasic reference, which includes four parts–attribution, formation, information andprecipitate. Also the paper applies the content analysis as the main study approach. Ituses the “constructed week” method to randomly select the analyzing samples.Eventually the paper comes to the conclusion that the People’s Daily does has putthe role of the Uyghur minorities in China as “the Other” group, by reporting newsevents mainly on their receiving help and guidance, on the contrary of the “Party” andthe “Government”. Furthermore the paper also tries to figure out the impact such “theOther”-narration approach has on forming bias of recognizing Uyghur minorities bythe public, and suggestions on ameliorating impact.
