It seems that the news industry had lost its way under such fast-movingenvironment. While The Daily Show with Jon Stewart’s success in America has anunprecedented role to play in the realm of public discourse sphere which could inspirea foreseeable future for traditional news broadcasting by its reformation ofindependent popular and formal style. The soul of The Daily Show is the host JonStewart beyond all questions, a public revolutionary figure that combines features ofAmerican citizen, comedian, activist and public intellectual. This essay is based onthe American presidential election system and the2012American PresidentialElection to examine the broadcasting features of The Daily Show. By taking thesample of one of the most essential event as the Presidential Election of the UnitedStates, it aims at an analytical thesis on the broadcasting themes, preference content,attitude and various subjects. We can also conclude that by the “infotainment” that isto rebuild a broadcasting journalism style which presents proper power of sarcasmand take the media’s social responsibility, also to make sure its accuracy andcredibility to maintain its objective attitude to function as the reflection andsupervision of the public opinion.
