Research On Gender Difference Of TV Presenters’ Language

The cultural difference between men and women have always been stressed in China. Thus difference research between men and women is a common concern research issue. The favourite part of it is the research about language difference between men and women. In recent years, a lot of research results are about language difference of men and women. However, analysis that from the perspective of gender difference of TV host languages is still rare. The host is the soul of TV programs. Languages play a vital role to programs’success or failure."TV host" is gradually accepted by people with the development of TV. Chinese TV history is short. And study time of TV host is not long either. Thus this paper attempts to study gender’s language difference from the angle of TV programs’ host. The author uses research methods as communication, semiotics, pragmatics, rhetoric and relevant theoretical knowledge combined with the specific case of television programs to analyse and study the gender difference of languages on the Chinese TV host. The paper interprets specific differences of men and women TV host in aspects of voice, vocabulary, sentence, language style, conversation strategies. Then, it explains the physical, psychological, social reasons for those difference. It analyses influences of gender difference to TV programs in its forms and audience and gender difference to TV hosts in mode, image and location. In the end, the paper analyses the development trend of the gender difference of language. Neutral language is a trend. At the same time, the language differentiation will become an aesthetic pursuit.
