Image fusion is a process which making multiple images obtained by different or the same sensor into one image. With the source images to be fused have redundant and complementary information, image fusion which combines the different information to acquire an image aims at getting more comprehensive and accurate information about the target image.This paper mainly studies the technology of image fusion of visible and infrared. In the condition of multi-resolution, by comparing the application of wavelet transform and Laplacian pyramids in image fusion, proposed an adaptive image fusion technology which takes the dual-tree complex wavelet transform as base. This complex wavelet transform not only maintain the local analysis of the time-frequency characteristics of the original wavelet transform, but also has the translational invariance态directional selectivity and limited redundancy characteristics. What s more, through filters we can achieve reconstruction.Firstly, constructing multi-resolution analysis through taking dual-tree wavelet transform to each source image, and then the different frequency sub-bands are fused with different fusion rule. Finally, the end fused image is obtained by inverse dual-tree complex wavelet transform. By objective evaluation of fusion results, proves that this algorithm is superior to the traditional wavelet transform method.
