In recent decades, there has been increasing interest in high power Tm-doped fiber laser because of its potential applications in national defense, spectroscopy, communications and medical treatment. The Tm-doped fiber laser can output2μm laser and have a lot of advantages such as high quality, high energy efficiency ratio. It also can be used as pump in the2.5μm-12μm fiber laser.This paper mainly introduces the theory of high power2μm Tm-doped fiber laser and its stimulated brillouin scattering (SBS). The main contents are as follows:1. Introduce the structure and the work principles of high power Tm-doped fiber laser. Introduce the characters of the four parts of MOPA structure fiber laser: Tm-doped fiber, laser cavity, pump and amplifier.2. Build the mathematic model of high power Tm-doped fiber laser, and solve the power and distribution of the laser and Stokes by combining Runge-Kutta method and Newton iteration method. Find the relationship between the length, the doping concentration, the core area of the fiber and the SBS under the high power condition by simulation of matlab.3. Set up the experiment system of the seed of MOPA structure fiber laser and verify the result of simulation.
