Abstract/Summary:
High-load antenna pedestal is a key component of X-Type radar. Since techniques of many fields are involved in its essential manufacturing, e.g. metallurgy, heat treatment, welding, mechanical machining, etc., it is very difficult to fabricate this part. Therefore, breakthroughs of these key techniques in manufacturing have direct effects on the successful development of this kind of radar. The performance and structural features for high-load antenna pedestal of the airborne radar were introduced. And technical requests along with the overall plans of the process for manufacturing the antenna pedestal were analyzed. Furthermore, special studies on each key technique were carried out. These mainly include heat-treatment technology development for15-5precipitation hardening stainless steel, welding technology development of the high-load antenna pedestal as well as the overall manufacturing process for the whole antenna pedestal. Through development, technological regulations of aging treatment and relief annealing treatment for15-5precipitation hardening stainless steel were obtained and the welding technology which is applicable for the antenna pedestal was also determined. Temperature difference assembly technology was used to assemble a high-interference-fit four-point angular contact ball bearing in antenna pedestal.By now, the manufacturing process flows being set down have been used for guiding the antenna pedestal prototype’s manufacturing. All these research results mentioned above have settle a firm technological base leading to the successful development of this kind of radar.
