In this paper, technological research on operating distance and target tracking performances, which are two of the important indicators during the performance evaluation, is carried out. In the range test, a distance estimation model is established which can make sure of the maximum target detectable range according to the atmospheric parameters, target parameters and detector parameters. In the analysis of target tracking performance, tracking precision theory has been discussed, and a laboratory precision testing technology has been put forward. By means of the laboratory simulation of detection target, the azimuth, pitch angle and the tracking precision can be got, so as to simplify the detection, reduce the cost and shorten the cycle. In respect of test precision improvement, in order to solve the problem caused by the nonparallelism error of axises between testing system and IRST system, laser sight calibration device is designed, which includs the design of optical system, hardware circuit as well as software program. By means of the laser sight calibration device, automatic alignment of mimic plate axis and the IRST optical axis can be achieved, ensuring the test precision.Through amount of experiments and analysis, it proves that the distance estimation model is practical. Besides, the accuracy testing on the whole testing system which includes laser sight calibration device and precision testing device is carried out. The experiment result shows that it meets the accuracy requirement, and the technology discussed in this paper is reliable.
