The Design And Implementation Of Workflow-based Student Work Management System

With the development of computer, multimedia and network technology,information and knowledge are playing a more and more important role today; humanbeings are now in the information society. In recent years, the Ministry of Educationhas expanded the enrollment scale vigorously to meet the need of national economicand social development, which led to the great increase in the amount of student, as aresult, raised the level of difficulty in student work management. How to improve theefficiency of student work management, how to use IT technology to standardizestudent work management and how to manage the work scientifically has become thepriority for school administration.The existing student e-management system with low expansibility solelyincluded the essential information about students, thus the requirements of practicaltasks could not be integrated with the system perfectly. Moreover, the workflow in thepresent system is unable to make user-defined adjustment to the practical tasks. Thetechnology applied in the system would face such problems as the lack of mutualoperability and dynamic support, due to the limitation of technical conditions.Nowadays, the application of workflow technology has upgraded from the two-levelC/S structure to the tri-level B/S structure along with the advancing technology,which improves the integration of workflow and development platforms.This paper tries to illustrate the workflow student e-management system bymeans of the application of student e-management system in Guangdong Teachers’College of Foreign Languages and Arts. Workflow technology enables automatictransmission of personal items handling from system to personal webpage; moreover,the process of transmission becomes smoother. Users of this system can easily getaccess to handle their personal data, without any pre-training. The interaction of thissystem with the school’s teaching management system, financial service system, etc.is also available; it perfectly manage students’ data of pre-school, entering school, atschool, graduation and even after school. This system make use of Browser/Softwaremodel, developed with the base of JDK1.6and use Oracle10.2.0as its database, it isprogrammed with criterions of Jave, ID and JMX1.2. This system is constructed withthree levels, namely the user PC, the application server and the database server. Itcovers all functional models of student’s management: ideological education management, class management, employment obtaining management, psychologicalaffair management, etc. users management, access control management, personal datamanagement, etc. are also included.This paper presents the structure of system and designation of database, analysesthe process of designation and the realization of function models. The system hasbeen proved efficient.
