With the development of IP network technology and the popularity of networkapplications, a variety of application systems in campus network graduallyinfiltrated into various fields of scientific research and teaching. But the sustainedgrowth and increasing complication of network traffic bring more challenges tonetwork operation, maintenance, management and control.In order to konw the real-time network performance and availability of systemservices, provide sustained and stable service for the campus network users, thisthesis designs advanced operation means and management tools to realizeharmonious and unified monitoring of IP network, which provide solutions foron-line monitoring, network anomalies and failures Troubleshooting and networkresource optimization management. It is the basis of scientific management andefficient control of the campus network, so as to maintain the good operation order.The main work of this thesis includes:(1)The dissertation provides comprehensive analysis of the current mainstreammethods, including the campus network performance measurement techniques,tools and platform, and summarizes their characteristics and application scenarios;(2) Taking the Hunan University campus network as a target to be tested, this thesisdesigns and implements the structure of end-to-end measurement system, includingthe evaluation index, method, framework, function module; and developed thesetools with high precision, low overhead. Through the deployment of the system,according to the analysis of monitoring in critical path network in campus networkand application level of important business, this thesis analyzes the experimentalresults, gets some useful conclusions;(3) This thesis measures performance ofend-to-end critical path on network layer, provides data analysis of end-to-enddelay, packet loss, bandwidth and throughput, then finds the end-to-end behavior.Performance report can be got, from which we can find the bottleneck point andcongestion point in campus network. And all above can provide decision-makingbasis for performance improvement and optimization.(4) Finally, several popularnetwork services have been measured, such as WEB, mail, FTP, DNS and other keynetwork business. This process last long-term, sustained and widespread. All ofthese works have laid a solid foundation for the campus network service quality assurance.
