. In the process of the informatization construction of universities, IT managers have meet many challenges:the increasing number of servers and other IT facilities have lead to the increasing costs of management and single server can’t be made full use of,which is a waste of resources, and also the IT environment that managed by traditional measures can’t meet the grouping individuation demand from teachers and students.For the actual environment:software and hardware resources expand rapidly and decentralized deployment, greater management’s difficulty. We can get help from cloud computing to make IT resources managed centralized, auto deployed, resources sharing and on-demand service. As a new kind of network computing technology, cloud computing can provide network users multi-level IT resources services, including infrastructure, platform and application system, through many measures, such as open, standardization, virtualization and so on. In recent years, cloud computing has become a hot research field in both academia and commercial circles, because it owns many features such as virtualization, customization, multi-tenant and so on. It has obtained attention widely. How to apply the technology of cloud computing into universities’ computer labs is a hot issue.Firstly, this article makes an introduction about research status at home and abroad and the related technology of cloud computing, emphatically introduces the architecture of cloud computing, virtualization and solution of existing cloud computing platform; then makes a wide and deep research between two existing cloud computing platform:VMware vCloud Director which is very popular, commercial cloud computing platform and Apache VCL which is an open-source software. In this paper, we made a thorough research and comparison between the two platforms in architecture and application, working principle, network architecture, security measures and so on, and concluded their scope of application and user colony. Then on the basis of VMware ESXi which is a free and virtualization software, take Apache VCL which is an open-source cloud computing technology as centre, through the technology such as VLAN. NAT,domain name resolution and reverse address mapping to build a open-source,free, safety university’s cloud computing platform, after that we made an exploration of hierarchical-service mechanism of cloud computing platform, Nginx reverse-proxy mechanism, the management measures and system of cloud platform, and application service of SaaS model. Finally, we developed a transform major system of DongHua University through technology of java EE to verify the platform’s effectiveness by deploying the system on the built cloud computing platform and provided service through SaaS model. At the end of the article, a summary and prospects in the next step have been done.
