With the rapid development of information technology and embedded system,"digital hospital" is gradually becoming a heated topic for modern hospital construction, in which the digital management of wards occupies a significant position in hospital informationization. Huge resources and energy was put into the traditional information management of medical cases, wards, admittance and discharge formalities, which breeds high error rate in manual operation. In order to meet the needs of information construction in hospitals, this paper strives to design a ward management system to bring a structural change to medical activities and services in both form and content. It helps to realize clinical works without paper and various information of out-patient and in-patient records and lab results can be preserved intactly in the data base. Patients can inquire about therapeutic regimen, medication and cost through embedded terminal devices, which makes management more humanistic, scientific and intellectual.This paper strives to develop systems on the ARM11hardware platform with the core micro-processor S3C6410from Samsung corporation. The ward management system is designed and realized with embedded Linux system on Qt graphical interfaces. The terminal of this management system includes sickbed, ward and nurse paging systems. The sickbed system terminal can make it convenient for doctors and nurses to check patients’basic information and help patients check doctor’s advice and expense. The users can click the labels on the screen to inquire. Ward system terminal serves mainly as a provider of information of different wards. The nurse paging system is used for nurses to call patients and answer patients’ calls.Firstly, the paper makes a introduction on the project requirements and development platform, According to the demand analysis, the hardware platform uses ARM11development board and the operating system uses the embedded Linux system to complete the transplantation of the bootloader, the kernel and the root file system, with the interface designed on the development platform. Secondly, design each functional module of the system in detail. Lastly, run the system for a test. The experimental results show that the ward management system can complete the information query and the doctor-patient interaction better, with the characteristics of conciseness and friendness.
