The oral liquid is a unique drug of China, which has been well received by most of users for its advantages of little irritation, easy absorption and good effect. But because of the influence of the production process and environment, the oral liquid may contain glass debris, scrap aluminum, rubber crumbs, hairs, fibers or other impurities inside, which can do serious harm to the health of users.Nowadays, it always takes the artificial darkroom method to detect the liquor, which results in some troubles, for example, working in the bright light condition for a long time can cause visual fatigue, which leads to the unstable detection result, high undetected rate and false rate, and low efficiency. Therefore, how to detect the oral liquid quality has been a critical problem due to its serious affection to the sales and the production.This thesis proposes a design about intelligent light inspection machine (ILIM) to detect the oral liquid automatically, which consists of hardware and software design. The ILIM assimilates skills of sensors, PLC programming, machine vision and digital image processing to achieve the goal of automatic detection of the oral liquid. At first, the bottle of the oral liquid comes to the high speed rotating area through the belt to be forced to rotate quickly, then it will stop at once when entering the image capturing region, while because of the inertia, the liquid inside will continue to move, which gives the chance of industrial cameras to collect consecutive images, after transmitting all of image data to computers, the first step is to use the frame difference method to remove static background of images, and adopting the self-adapting threshold to divide it, after the denoising process, then extracting the target area and the center of it, according to the center value to judge whether the liquid has impurities inside, finally, sending the result to the quality detection equipment to kick out the unqualified bottles to realize the automatic detection of the oral liquid. ILIM based on the design in this thesis has been applied in some famous pharmacy factories in China, and the feedback proves that the machine can implement stable detection, get high precision, reduce labor intensity and also improve the efficiency of liquid inspection.
