There are several years for the application of CAN bus in the industrial control field. With the increasing complexity of industrial environment and the continuous development ofdistributed control technology, the requirements of remote monitoring and data integration ofon-site equipment, are increasingly strong. As the most widely used LAN protocol, Ethernethas some excellent features such as complete hierarchical structure, high rate of datatransmission, strong reliability of communication and so on. In addition, it can adapt todifferent types of physical transmission medium. By the technology of Ethernet being used inindustrial control field, distribution and intelligent control of industrial field devices can beachieved. And information integration and sharing from the enterprises production floor tomanagement are comprehensively completed. The conversion of CAN bus protocol toEthernet protocol and their data interaction become the focus of current research issues.According to the application background, the realization of industrial equipment gatewaydevice for accessing to Ethernet is further studied.Based on CAN bus and TCP/IP protocols, a kind of gateway module for interconnectionwith industrial device and Ethernet has been realized, using the embedded controllerLPC2294as CPU, and μC/OS-II as the development platform.Choose DM9000E as the Ethernet controller and CTM8250T as the CAN transceiver inthe circuit board. Some peripheral circuits are extended, such as power circuit, storage circuitand clock circuit and so on. In the designing process, dual-channel of CAN bus anddual-channel of Ethernet interface are realized to improve the reliability redundancy. Thedriver programs are designed for the controller and chips, and μC/OS-II and TCP/IP is cut andtransplanted for the controller LPC2294.As for the application aspect, the conditional TCP/IP protocols are optimized to meet theapplication requirement. The designed gateway module achieves the function of real-timedata transmission between CAN and Ethernet. The module can work in TCP/UDP style,multi-cast style and broadcast style. In addition, the module supports extra CAN and Ethernetinterfaces to improve the running reliability of system. At last, some service functions arerealized by programming including on-line parameters configuration, on-line time unify and work status checking and so on.After hardware testing and program debugging, the gateway module can realize theprotocol conversion and data interaction between CAN and Ethernet. The designing targetsare well satisfied. The overall system runs steady and has a prospective future in application.
