The Design And Development Of Yantai University Teaching Management Platform

Practical education is an important link of higher education and is the key for colleges and universities to train the students’practical ability. To improve the practical ability of university students and make them possess the basic ability for stepping into the society and adapting to the social development appear to be very important under the current educational environment. The higher education should attach great importance to practical education, constantly improve the model of practical education, and cultivate the comprehensive ability of combing theories, innovations and practices of university students. However, the current practical education management has a huge task load and the data information can’t be shared, so it is of great significance to design a system of practical education management to enhance the management of practical education.With the development of digital campus construction of colleges and universities, the departments of teaching, scientific research and personnel management of colleges and universities have introduced or developed relevant management system according to the work demands of their own department, but there is a lack of management software for practical education management and the current management model can’t adapt to the requirements of the practical work of modern teaching management. Therefore, to design a network system of practical teaching management which fits for the school can improve the work efficiency and service quality of the educational administration management and achieve the sharing of teaching information.The management of practical teaching of colleges and universities include much content, which are specifically students’graduation design (paper) management, the management of discipline competition of university students, the management of students’internship and that of practice bases. The management of practical education involves relatively much content, with larger information quantity, so how to reasonably do the work of practical teaching management well has become a difficulty faced by the practical teaching management of colleges and universities.This paper will combine the specific situations of practical teaching management of Yantai University to analyze the design principles and purposes of the practical teaching management platform of Yantai University and describe and design the functions needed by the system in details. According to the functional requirements of the system, it is divided into three major modules:system management, graduate thesis management and the management of discipline competition of university students. And the submodule of the system and the relation among modules are expressed by using organization charts. And in the end, the system is achieved by utilizing Microsoft Visio Studio, test cases are designed to test the system and the deficiencies appeared in the process of test are modified to constantly improve the system.This system has finally achieved the informatization of practical teaching management of Yantai University, which makes the system administrator able to conveniently manage the graduate thesis and discipline competition of university students through this system and makes it convenient for the teachers to do relevant work about graduate design (thesis) and college students discipline competition, realizing the systematization and informatization of the function of practical teaching management of colleges and universities and improving the efficiency and service quality of practical teaching management of the school.
