MIMO is a key technology in the fourth-generation mobile communications, theangle-of-arrival is an important part of antenna technology study, the research ofangle-of-arrival for single antenna had a great result, but the research of angle-of-arrival forMIMO system are not in deep. According to ITU-R M.2135standard report, angle-of-arrivalis a key factor of overall performance for MIMO system. Overall, this study is a cutting-edgetechnology research, also is a basic research, it has a high importance, great significance andbroad prospects for improving MIMO technology. Aim to solve the problem ofangle-of-arrival angle for MIMO system, search a reasonable solution, improve and enhancethe performance of MIMO systems, this study issues in depth of angle-of-arrival for MIMOsystem.The Key point of solving MIMO system’s problems is whether angle-of-arrival can be quicklyand accurately estimated. According to MIMO system’s characteristics, this study start withthe basic model of MIMO system, firstly create a system model, and then find the key factorsgenerating angle-of-arrival by mathematical derivation, all of this work is the basis of thestudy. Angle-of-arrival estimating is inseparable from the channel matrix estimate. This studyproposes two channel estimation methods, after compared their performance, a better methodfor MIMO channel estimation is proposed. Compared with various angle-of-arrival estimationmethods, combined with the polarization diversity technique, this study presents a moreaccurate and stable estimation method for MIMO systems, it is called synthetic spectrumdirection estimation (CSM) algorithm. Firstly build there angle-of-arrival models, respectively,a non-uniform linear array model, uniform linear array model and the orthogonal linear arraymodel. derived SSM reasonable form, and then verify the accuracy by a series of simulations,including the single-target estimation, multi-target estimation, statistical performance, and thesimulation analysis of real data, finally compared with MUSIC, SSMUSIC, Capon and so on,verified SSM algorithm’s good performance.This research is started with the basic MIMO channel, find the key factors affects theangle-of-arrival by series derivation, obtained the specific form of the angle-of-arrival model, then proposed a more sophisticated method of angle-of-arrival estimation. By a series ofsimulation analysis and compared with some widely used estimation methods, verified themethod is reasonable and feasible. In addition, this method is also applicable to other systemsangle-of-arrival estimation, have a further expansion and improvement of space for the futurewireless communications technology, this method has important significance and improveand prospects of the depth study on the MIMO technology.
