Due to its high pumping efficiency, long working time, compact structure and small volume, diode pumped solid state laser (DPSSL) has many superiorities comparing with the traditional lamp pumped solid state lasers in many aspects. This thesis mainly introduced the development background of diode pumped solid state laser, and a method to achieve high output of about15W TEMoo mode for diode pumped solid state laser by using the method of side pumping. The design is mainly to solve the thermal effect of high-power pumped laser, including the thermal birefringence, the thermal bi-focusing effects, and thermal lens effect. We discussed in theory4f optical system and double rod structure for the thermal effect compensation, with a quartz rotator between the double lens to decrease the depolarization effect, and the thesis also discussed in theory the thermal effect on the fundamental mode output limit. At the same time, in order to improve the polarization output, the polarization splitter is placed by Brewster angle. The polarization splitter can also be used to detect the compensation effect because of the birefringence. The thesis refers to a dynamic stable resonator, which can greatly improve the mechanical stability of the structure for the reason that the structure is not sensitive to the thermal focal length. The TEMoo mode has a large size in the cavity because of the plane parallel resonator. We finally got high power and high brightness TEMoo polarization output light, the output power is about15W. Its output is a continuous wave with, wavelength1064nm.
