With the process of the informationization in colleges and universities, a series of management information systems have been developed to provide a strong support for the colleges and universities in terms of personnel, finance, research, student management, teaching, office automation, and have accumulated a large variety of core business data. However, the day-to-day data management of these applications are simple data query statistics, and has not analyzed to useful knowledge from these hidden data information resources. How to make full use of existing data resources to provide decision support for the construction of the school, becomes a challenging task currently for colleges and universities. On the other hand, data warehouse technology can be used to find the associated data from a vastness of data resources, and do analysis, synthesis, reasoning and predictions to provide the basis of decision-making to further improve the school’s academic level in colleges and universities.Under the background of performance evaluation and analysis system construction in colleges and universities, with the basis of the public database in Shaanxi Normal University, a faculty performance evaluation system based on data warehouse solutions is proposed. In the proposed system, data warehouse (DW), online analytical processing (OLAP), and input-output theory are used to allow managers to analyze the data from the multi-angle, multi-level. Furthermore, the useful knowledge hidden in the data deep relations can be reasoned and used to master the latest situation and development trend of research, teaching, and then that the factors that affect the quality of teaching and research can be found to provide data to support school funding decisions, thus improving the school level.In the thesis, the faculty performance evaluation and analysis of the key technologies in detail and the necessary research are discussed. Firstly, the institutions of higher education performance evaluation in China is summarized, and the composition of the key technologies in the evaluation and analysis system are analyzed. Secondly, an overall framework of the faculty performance evaluation system is built based on input-output theory, and faculty performance evaluation index system is subsequently designed. Thirdly, the system architecture, the development process of the data warehouse, the online analytical processing functions are proposed and carried out for a detailed study of the data mining features and implementation process.In summary, based on the original teaching, scientific research, educational administration, personnel, assets, financial data, after the analysis of the system theme in the Oracle lOg platform, an object-oriented data warehouse is designed. With the ETL tools of ODI components provided by Oracle, the building process of the multidimensional data model of the data warehouse is given, and a series of data such as scientific research projects, papers, teaching, assets and financial cube, is constructed. The complete client statements and multidimensional data analysis is shown based on Oracle BIEE and Essbase. Combined with OLAP multidimensional analysis features, the stored data can be analyzed from multiple angles, multiple levels of observation, and then can be used to grasp the situation of schools and faculties. The proposed information system can be applied to achieve all targets for management decision support services in university faculty performance scientific quantitative evaluation, and then provide new ideas to facilitate decision-makers.
