In the rapidly developing society, the information technology plays an increasinglyimportant role, the information security requirements for more attention. Personal identificationis an important part in the field of information security. In this environment, biometricidentification technology has been paid extensive attention. Personal identification based onplantar pressure is a new field of gait recognition, this recognition technology has inherited theadvantages of gait recognition, such as, can complete identification without people cooperate, thewalking gait is not easy to disguise or hidden, the data collection equipment is simple. Thisrecognition technology can overcome the influence of image quality which took from a distance, also can overcome the different shooting angle of the camera which caused the distortion ofhuman body on image, at the same time it didn’t need to do image processing and saverecognition time.At present, identification based on plantar pressure is in its infancy. A set of plantar pressurecollection system is established based on the study of the gait characteristics. Correlationbetween plantar pressure and body factors is preliminary analyzed in the pilot phase. The mainresearch works are as follows.Firstly, biometric technology was briefly introduced. The research status of gait recognition, the advantages of gait recognition in the non-intrusive recognition environment as well as theacquisition of plantar pressure equipment structure was introduced too. The basic knowledge ofwalking plantar pressure, physiological structure as well as various states in the process ofhuman walking was introduced. The lower limps system and foot system model was established. The feature used for the identification was studied and the impact of body factors to the plantarpressure wan qualitative analyzed.Secondly, a set of plantar pressure collection system was established. The plantar pressuresignal of the first phalanx, the first metatarsal, the second metatarsal, the third metatarsal, theforth metatarsal, the fifth metatarsal, the arch and the heel were converted into an electricalsignal through the principle of Strain Bridge. After amplification and filtering by the signal processing module, the electrical signal was converted to digital signal via the analog-to-digitalconverter module. Then the data was uploaded to the PC software through serial communication.PC software collected date to be processed and saved as an Excel format file. Meanwhile, the PCsoftware possesses the functionality of data extraction, processing, as well as generating graphsand histograms, shows the graphical interface visually which is easy to accept and easy toanalyze. Finally, the plantar pressure was extracted, and the correlation relationship between plantarand gender, age, BMI was analyzed. And the factors which lead to the generation of thesedifferences were analyzed too. The experimental data and modeling data which was deducedwere verified mutually. The accuracy of the model and the effectiveness of the experimental datawere verified.
