The21st century, humanity has entered the age of the Internet, people’s lives moreand more inseparable from the network. In the development of science and technologyfor human convenience at the same time, it also brings new problems, such as personalprivacy, piracy and digital copyright protection, multimedia files attacks. In order tosolve the problem of Internet information security, information encryption technologygradually developed, but it can not solve all of the information security problems.Information hiding techniques have been proposed in this context, information hidingtechnique is the use of a large number of multimedia information dissemination on theInternet there is a certain degree of redundancy, to ensure that the multimedia messagedoes not generate excessive distortion, and thus the attacker can not easily be perceived.Information hiding a major research direction is reversible information hiding,reversible information hiding lossless recovery of the carrier image can extract hiddeninformation technology.This article describes reversible information hiding technology, and gray-scaleimages as a carrier of information hiding. First introduced the reversible informationhiding technique and its characteristics and shortcomings, and gives the reversibleinformation hiding technique to evaluate the relevant standards. Followed mainlyexplained based on the difference expansion reversible information hiding, theprediction error expansion transformation and improvement programs based onprediction error difference expansion that overlapping prediction error expansion, inorder to further improve the embedding capacity, secondary use of the prediction errorscalability, with a small number of flag information eliminates the location map, so thatenhancing the embedding capacity of the algorithm. The experimental results areanalyzed and compared to other algorithms, the proposed algorithm in the case ofconsiderable image distortion higher embedding capacity. And the algorithm is equallyapplicable with other improved algorithm based on difference expansion, and can beapplied with color images. Finally, the summary and review of the Innovation andproposed improvements for the future direction of the target, and describes the futuredevelopment trend of the reversible information hiding technology.
