The practical applications of mathematical morphology in micro-cell image processing are studied in this thesis. The beneficial researches include the mathematical morphology basic operators and morphological edge-detection algorithm; the experimental results obtained are satisfactory. According to the features of cell image, some improved algorithms and new algorithms are put forward in this thesis also. These methods can describe feature of different kinds of cells. The main content in this paper is as follows:1. The foundation and development, the basic features and operations of mathematical morphology are introduced. Using the morphological gradient operators, the micro-cell image edge can be detected. The edge detection method of gray-scale image mathematical morphology was improved. Using the multi-structure and multi-scale operator to process the cell image can not only detect the edge of cell but also effectively reduce the noise.2. Based on micro-cell image, texture analysis of cord is proposed for distinguishing between white and red blood cell.3. Based on crystal in micro-cell image, quadrangle fitting molding-board matching algorithm is proposed.4. The texture analysis algorithms mentioned above programmed in VC++ operates well. The performance of these methods is analyzed and the rationality of them is verified.
