HF-DF dual-band chemical laser can countermeasure the specific target incomposite band which is located in the middle infrared band of2~5um, so it waswidely used in the field of laser infrared countermeasure. A continuous wave HF-DFdual-band chemical laser was developed in this article.The work course of HF/DF chemical laser was introduced and the source of groundstate molecules in the cavity of HF-DF dual-band chemical laser was analyzed from thebasic principles of HF/DF chemical laser. And the absorption problem ofcombustion-driven cw HF-DF dual-band laser with traditional fuel system was studied.The research was carried out on the discharge-driven HF/DF dual-module laserexperiment platform, which can simulate the situation of combustion-driven HF-DFdual-band laser cavity. When the amounts of ground state molecules and excited statemolecules are equivalent, the output power of HF laser decreased approximately50%,and the output power of DF laser decreased over80%. The experimental results showedthat develop combustion-driven HF-DF dual-band laser with traditional fuel system wasnot feasible.The HF-DF dual-band chemical laser without ground state molecule absorptionwas studied in the discharge-driven HF/DF dual-module laser experiment platform. Adual-band output mirror with transmissivity (T) of6%~8%in HF band and3%~5%inDF band was used in the experiment.8.6W output power of HF-DF laser was achievedfirstly in the system. The power of HF laser and DF laser was4W and4.76Wrespectively. The spectrum and spot of the HF-DF dual-band laser were measured in ourexperiment. The experimental results showed that the feasible way to achievecombustion-driven HF-DF dual-band laser was use new fuel without H/D atoms so thatthe ground state HF/DF molecules didn’t produce in the combustion chamber.
