Complex product project plays an important role in the national economy, complexproduct project domain has always been the focus of attention by scholars due to itscomplexity. However, it is difficult to manage the project from the perspective of projectcontrolled for a long time, one of the important reasons is the lack of effective support ofWBS (Work Breakdown Structure); Most of the current research about complex productproject WBS did not consider the time interval of task execution, just simply decomposedthe project into couples of minimum work units, which can merely reflect the static datarather than the dynamic process of project manufacturing; At the same time the currentWBS did not take the decomposition levels,the constraint relation between taskdecomposition units, the organic connection between the activities into description, whichcould not fully reflect the complexity of the complex product project, and the appearedambiguity about the project could directly hinder the communication and coordinationbetween between the main participations.Oriented to the above issues, in the basis of depth analysis of the current status of thecomplex project WBS and work breakdown integration requirements, this paper hasexpanded related decomposition principles and put forward a WBS method for complexproduct project based on ontology.First of all, summarizing the existed WBS problem in the domain according to thefeatures of complex product project domain, this article has analyzed the integrationrequirements in terms of dynamic decomposition rule, multiple points of view managementetc.Secondly, the paper has analyzed the basic principles of the project work breakdown, andchoosing situation calculus to provide formalized description for these principles, thenbroaden the decomposition principles and related semantic description of complex productproject domain according to the integration requirements. In combination with the featuresof complex product project work breakdown and ontology model, the article has divided theproject domain into design and manufacture domain ontology, business process domainontology, activity domain ontology, which could be the information sharing and interactionplatform for project work breakdown, also put forward an ontology mapping method for theinformation interaction between ontology instances. Finally, according to the constructed basic principles of decomposition and relatedexpansion, combining with the work breakdown characteristics of complex product projectmanagement requirements and manufacturing features in this field, this paper selected thetypical complex product project shipbuilding project for work breakdown integratedresearch in this project domain, and took related instances emerged in the decompositionprocess for mapping example.
