At the era of Internet penetration and home electronics products diversification,demand of home player is also rising. Therefore, exploring the red high-definition videodisc player for audio and video playback through network is imperative.Once the player gets audio and video by the means of network, then a set of system isneeded to ensure managing the player terminal and charging the users for watchingrelative programs. According to the network media demands of red high-definition player,we design an Internet Certification System (ICS) and focus on the design implementationand performance evaluations of the ICS sever.Four main aspects in designing and implementing the ICS server are defined afteroverall analyzing the ICS server architecture. They are Management Server which isresponsible for the management of end-user authentication, Content Server which storesthe key of high-definition video and two server management softwares which manage theabove two servers. Main modules’ designs of the server include sessions, communication,key management and authentication. The features of the server management softwareinclude the management of the terminal, content server, discs, access control, domainsegment and costs. Experiments and testing results show that the identity authenticationand video playback of player terminal are normal, and there isn’t any mosaic phenomenonduring the overall playback. So, the ICS server meets the expected design goals.Moreover, we test several indicators which affect the ICS server performance. Theseindicators include maximum concurrent number, responsible time, bandwidth utilization,CPU utilization, memory usage and TCP connection time. The data is used to analyze theweight of each indicator and establish a performance evaluation model of the ICS serverbased on multi-attribute decision theory. Furthermore, we make performance tests on ICSservers of different hardware configuration, and use the performance model to evaluatetheir performance respectively. Finally, the evaluation results are used for making a betterchoice in the actual application.
