The safety and security of computer network turns out to be increasingly prominent withthe expansion of network scale and the complexity of network structure. Furthermore, themanagement of the network safety and security became the kernel point of networkmanagement. The real-time dynamic monitoring of network topology&node providespractical significance data basis for comprehensively and understanding of the entire networktransaction situation under unusual circumstances, which is also important for operatingnetwork system safely and stably.This paper illustrated the current network monitoring and data management technologiesin detail. It analyzed the bias of current network monitoring and management, deeplyanalyzed major problems in network data collection, storage and distribution. This paperdesigned and implemented the large-scale network topology&node data monitoring andmanagement system for providing solutions to the above problems.The paper focuses on the analysis of network monitoring and data managementtechnology, such as: SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), relational databases andWeb Services. It emphasizes the key technologies of network topology and node datamonitoring and management. On the basis of these technologies and the combination with thecurrent network characteristics and management requirements, the framework of this modelfor the network dynamic monitoring system was developed. The system architecture wasdesigned with the multi-thread topology scanning model. It collects real-time data of networktopology and node dynamically via SNMP, which detects and controls the running state ofnetwork nodes and stores the collected data in the E-R model databases. Then, it publishes thedata through the Push/Pull distribution model. Meanwhile, the concept of the networktopology and node archives and the network topology datum library is proposed due to therequirement of real-time monitoring and management for network.The large-scale network topology&node data monitoring and management system wasdesigned with the combination of the test results, performance evaluation and the summary ofthe whole research. The entire system was designed based on a distributed architecture acrossWindows/Linux platform, adopting a modular hierarchical design, with good portability andscalability.
