Currently computer network, telecommunication network, television network accelerate fusioninto one network. As the core of the NGN the soft exchange has become the future networkdevelopment focus areas. Multimedia communication platform as an important aspect of NGNnetwork service, has become a hot issue of current research. This article through to the VoIP study, putforward a kind of solution that combine open source software and high performance DSP. Finally thedesign and implementation of a practical application.In this paper, several key technology of multimedia communication platform is discussed.Through the contrast analysis of selected SIP protocol as the system signaling protocol. At the sametime introduces the SDP protocol, audio and video encoding technology and media transmissiontechnology which system needs. On this basis, Put forward the design scheme of multimediacommunication platform. Which select FreeSwitch as softswitch software in the multimediacommunication platform. FreeSwitch achieve secondary development through analysis of the kernelstructure characteristics, SIP signaling process, call control process and function expansion.Meanwhile, in order to reduce the general purpose processor media processing load. Design with lowpower consumption, high performance DSP to complete the media work. It improves the performanceof the system. According to the actual needs, as well as to validate the feasibility of the platform.Design and implement a multi-party video conferencing system. Including the conference modeselection realization, the function of meeting realization and the media processing etc.Finally, test the basic functions of the platform and the multi-party video conference. The resultsshow the platform able to undertake the user registered, session establishment and video conference.
