This paper aims to study the passive synthetic aperture technology fromthe perspective of spatial array extention. By receiving radiation data onseveralspecific locations during the movement of the Platform, virtual aperturesynthesis is completed. In order to obtain virtual array, increase the number ofarray elements.This technique can avoid additional hardware investment, whileat the same time improves the precision of DOA (Direction Of Arrive)estimation.Firstly, the structure of receiver and signal model are given, On this basis,the basic principle of MUSIC (Multi Signal Classification) algorit hm is studied,and the reasons for super resolution is analyzed. And this paper emphaticallyanalyzes the influence rolling in precision and angular resolution by the signalto noise ratio and number of antenna. Simulation results of Statisticalcharacteristics are presented and explained, in preparation for further study.Then the concept of passive synthetic aperture is introduced, the phasecorrection factors can be estimated during the process of aperture synthesis, Inview of different signal forms, such as single frequency signal, binary phasecoded signal, and LFM signal, the Corresponding Improved algorithms arepresented. Simulation results show that, DOA precision and angle resolution areimproved obviously. And the benefits and weaknesses of the algorithm and theinternal reasons are analyzed. The paper analyzes the influence rolling inprecision and angular resolution by the signal to noise ratio and syntheticaperture length.Finally, the detection capability related to corresponded signa ls isdiscussed. According to the idea of spatial smoothing, Generated by the platformmoving, the Doppler shift can be effectively achieved to the coherent multipathsignals. For some particular case, coherent signals may be generated, a newforward algorithm is presented which could realize decorrelation of signalswithout sacrificing aperture length. simulation shows the significant efficacy onradiation source during DOA estimation.
