Museology is not a lonely field of science, it has a close connection with manydisciplines. That is a major feature of museology. In the international museumcommunity, recognized as the museum function basically includes three aspects,which is the museum’s collection protection,research and education,communication.Display and exhibition are usually classified as the category of communication,whichbelong to museum communication branch in application museology. The reason isthat the same as communication, display and exhibition is also a process ofcommunicating and receiving information in the museum. The combination ofcommunication and museology, offers new way and new ideas for the implementationof the museum displays and exhibition, which enrichs the museum display andexhibition design theory.Based on communication as the breakthrough point, the paper applys thecommunication related principle and method to explain the process of museumexhibition and display. Through the research, the paper reveal that the museumdisplay and exhibition activities of the process is actually a collection of informationcommunication. The communication process of four elements: content ofcommunication,media, audience and communicators are detailed analyzed.First,the paper analysis the content of the museum exhibition and display tocommunicate. The content contains collection information, display and exhibitionsymbols on loading collection information. The communication success lies in thatdisplay and exhibition designer act as the propagator and audience share symbolicmeaning, and the paper put forward request about the textual content of display andexhibition production.Then the text design need to be paid attention to the problemsabout the low, excess and polluted information. Delivering content need to use certainmedia.As the medium of display and exhibition space, it delivery collectioninformation to the audience. In the real space design, display and exhibition designersneed to pay attention to the layout of the space. Color and light influence display andexhibition communication effect. Besides,the emergence of virtual space for displayexhibition brings opportunities and challenges the communication for display andexhibition.Secondly,the paper analysis and research the audience which is receiver of collection information and the paper points out that the audience is initiative party toreceive collection information in the display and exhibition communicationactivities.Next the paper focus on the audience psychology,that is audience selectiveattention, understanding, memory and rebellious attitude. According to that,the paperput forward corresponding communication strategy.Finally, the paper analysis the behavior main body and the initiator of displayexhibition communication,that is museum people. The museum people includingdisplay and exhibition designers and engaged in museum service of the display andexhibition,such as narrator, volunteers. the paper points out that the communication ofthe display and exhibition directly communicators is display and exhibition designer,and narrator and volunteers play a supplementary role.
