The Analysis Of ShenBao Reports On The The HeiQi Army From The Perspective Of Agenda Setting(1883-1885)

Newspaper is an essential tool to produce all kinds of opinion. The selection of content and the designing of layout constantly have great effect on people’s thinking and focus, and also lead people to participate in historical events and effects on the process of historical events. However, the newspaper agenda setting function has already been recognized by the industry. Today, it is obvious that newspaper headlines is very likely to become the focus of tomorrow’s streets and lanes hot topic, then how to best display the newspaper agenda setting function to establish healthy public opinion environment is one of the active discussion in the field of news report.In this study, the scholar Lang and Lang in1983proposed the "Agenda-building" theory——the theory is a branch of "Agenda-setting"theory----as the fundamental starting point, and based on the collected periodical data, this study focuses on the ShenBao’s reports on HeiQi army during1883to1885, relating to the social and political environment and public opinion and dynamic development of news reporting, and systemically displays the process of media agenda construction of ShenBao and relevant methods. The paper analysizes and discusses the reports of ShenBao on the HeiQi army from the perspective of the reporting languages, frequency of reporting,changes of the play and specific meaning category; furthermore, it analysizes the process of media agenda construction of shaping the image of the HeiQi army.
