In recent years, With the rapid development of network technology, a new wireless Mesh network emerge as the times require, it’s useful features includes quick deployment, robustness, flexible, and high-bandwidth, etc. And provide a way to people access Internet without space constraint. There are more and more requirements of the multimedia business with high Quality of Service in our society, and the study of QoS in wireless Mesh network become a new hotspot. Furthermore, Available bandwidth estimation is one of the key technologies for QoS provision, it can bring about implementing information routing, allocating channel, controlling congestion, allocating bandwidth by available bandwidth estimation, to improve the accuracy of available bandwidth, and optimize the resources of the wireless Mesh network; Besides, available bandwidth has a tight connection with QoS, beneficial to optimizing QoS parameters.After finished an extremely in-depth analysis of the available bandwidth estimation method, and summarized the wireless Mesh network, found out the limitation of the available bandwidth estimation method in application of wireless Mesh network, considered the different characteristics between wireless Mesh network and traditional wireless network in the process of the wireless signal propagation, established a communication model of wireless Mesh network, examined the problems exist in the currently available bandwidth closely over and over, proposed a new available bandwidth estimation algorithm for wireless mesh network——MPEAB, which was based on the current available bandwidth estimation algorithm APEAB. The main job of this paper can be summarized as follows:(1) According to the feature of structure and the process of signal propagation in wireless Mesh network, analyzes the main interference factors in the whole process of signal propagation, establish a wireless Mesh network communication model and analysis the inaccuracy of existing available bandwidth estimation algorithm based on establishing some ideal conditions.(2)In view of inaccuracy in the existing methods of available bandwidth, this paper puts forward an algorithm MPEAB, which is suitable for wireless Mesh network bandwidth. We figure out the quantitative relation between signal channel capacity and sending/receiving power by analyzing the features of wireless mesh network. And then, the more accurate available bandwidth can be estimated based on the relation. The simulation results show that our estimated available bandwidth is better than APEB algorithm; the proposed algorithm can be further used for network management and rate control.
