Both Ka-band and W-band are important "frequency window" of millimeter-wave.With the requirement of modern Communication Technology and Military Electronics, the applications of Ka-band and W-band become more and more popular. So theresearch of receiving technology of Ka-band and W-band is meaningful. The receiverfront-end is the key part of the receiver, which performance has a crucial effect on thereceiver system. For the reason discussed above, this paper mainly focuses on theresearch of Ka-band receiver front-end and the receiving circuit of W-band receiverfront-end.As a complete system, the Ka-band receiver front-end has been successfullydeveloped so that this paper will focus on the introduction of its development process. The contents of the research include the design of receiving circuit, simulation anddesign of passive circuit (waveguide-microstrip convert, filter, power divider), selectionof the active MMIC chips (low-noise amplifier, harmonic mixer, power amplifier),study and design of the bias circuit and a power supply circuit, cavity-design andcircuit-layout of system, and the implementation and test of system. By researching thekey technology of receiver, analyzing the demand of indicators for structure, performance, power consumption of system, combining the successful projectexperience in the past, and considering the domestic processing conditions andassembly process, we finally selected superheterodyne structure and hybrid integrationtechnology for implementation of programs and successfully achieved the developmentof Ka-band low-noise three-channel receiver front-end. The tested results showed that:the gain is approximately equal35dB, receive-transmit isolation is greater than58dB,isolation between channels is greater than32dB, image-frequency rejection is greaterthan35dB and the noise figure is less than4.2dB. So the tested results are achieved oreven better than the project requirements of indicators.W-band receiver front-end is carried out research on the basis of the study on keytechnology, components and module of W-band circuit. And the receiving circuit ofW-band receiver front-end is the work, which I undertake in the project. The specific content of my work are the design of receiving circuit, the passive circuit simulation andthe selection of the active MMIC chips of receiving circuit, cavity-design andcircuit-layout of receiving circuit as well as the implementation and test of receivingcircuit.
