With the rapid development of modern communication technology, the demand ofthe quality of communication services rises, and the requirements for the reliability ofcommunication and the data transfer rate promote continuously. In the field of wirelesscommunication, the resources of the network should be utilized more effectively toprovide users with best performance and ensure there’re the least errors in thecommunication. In order to satisfy the above requirements, both to reduce the errorprobability in the transmission and to promote the utilization rate of the resource in thewireless network, in the thesis we propose polar codes as a new and effective method ofchannel coding.Polar codes has been proved to be magnificent codes, those are able to achieve thechannel capacity of arbitrary symmetric binary-input memoryless channels. They areparticularly designed for specific channel. And they have relatively lower encoding anddecoding complexity compared to LDPC codes and Turbo codes, which laid thefoundation for their extensive use in communication fields. Quantities of researchers areengaged in the principles of coding algorithm, decoding algorithm and the applicationscenarios of polar codes.This thesis focuses on the application of polar codes in wireless communications. Ahighly reliable scheme with low complexity is adopted, which takes the principle ofchannel polarization for encoding and BP decoding algorithm. Performancecharacteristics in practical application and the usability in channel estimating distortionare also studied for their reliability in small scale fluctuations channel environment. Inthis part, we evaluate the transmission performance of polar codes in different channels.In comparison with RM codes, an application scenario is introduced to replace RMcodes in the existing communication systems.This thesis investigates the alternative performance of RM coding using polar codein CQI transmission of3GPP protocol, with combination of aforementioned discussionand analysis. This thesis proposes the scheme with overlapping polar coding accordingto the practical applications. With the optimization algorithm of all, we finally get much better performance in the feedback transmission of CQI. In the last chapter, we putforward the scheme of network coding based on polar codes to analyse the advantagesand disadvantages of that. Through the analysis, we give out the characteristic of thenew scheme and optimize the overall scheme. The following simulation of the systemshows network coding based on polar codes can bring high reliability, high throughputand high transmission rates, and many other advantages to the system.
