Millimeter waves are a kind of electromagnetic waves whose wavelengths arebetween microwave and infrared, with the characteristics of ability good transmissioncharacteristics and smaller in size. High power millimeter technology has made a greatbreakthrough in recent years,a lot of richful gains have been researched, The mostrepresentative device is gyrotron wave amplifier.Gyrotron wave amplifier is a newsources of millimeter wave with the characteristics of high peak power,which has beenwidely used in military and industry.Especially in military, High power microwavemillimeter technology can be used to destroy the radars and communications system,furthermore, it can be used to make our weapons can destroy the enemies accurately.protect our radar and command system and win the war. Therefore,if one country wantsto win in the modern war,it must own this kinds of high-technology like gyrotron,tograsp the initiative in the war.The electronic gun and the collector are two main parts of gyrotron TWT,whichtemperature is very high when the gyrotron TWT is running.High temperature will notonly influence the gyrotron TWT’s reliability and stability,lower the gyrotron TWT’sefficiency,but also will cut the life of gyrotron TWT when the temperature is too high.Inthis paper, lots of work has been done focus on these two parts such as theory analysis,compute simulation.Chapter3introduces the software of ANSYS and lots of relevant theore ofthermal analyse,introduces how to use the software of ANSYS to do some compute inthe electronic gun and the collector, and the specific method and steps of the computesimulation.In chapter4, lots of compute simulation has been done focus on the electron gun,use the theory and software which were mentioned in the previous chapters. To simulatethe temperature distribution and the deformation size of the gun by using Ansys. Thepurpose is to design an ideal inner structure by modifying the parameters of the gun. Onone hand, the gun must get the right temperature to emit electrons, on the other hand,the temperature difference of the cathode emission must be lower than8℃,on this basis, this paper uses Ansys to simulate the deformation and it will give some advice fordesign.Devise a experiment to test the results which are computed simulation in theprevious chapters finality.In Chapter5, in order to solve cooling capability of the gyrotron TWT collectorand guarantee the gyrotron TWT’s reliability and stability.Thermal analysis of thecollector with finite element software ANSYS is performed and simulation results areprovided to obtain the main guidelines for thermal resign of collector.The ways ofapplying boundary that affect the distribution of collector temperature arecompared.Using Collector temperature distribution under actual heat (boundarycondition) to compared the influence of the water and temperature.The size and numberof collector fins is optimized,a relatively perfect structure is obtained finally.
