Cloud computing is an emerging, competitive business supply mode, and receivedextensive attention of academia, industry, and also favored by the majority of users. Theresource management mechanism of cloud computing environment is mainly composedof network virtualization technology to realize. Due to the use of the networkvirtualization technology, a lot of virtual network can exist together and share the sameunderlying infrastructure. As a result, different virtual network even can adopt differentnetworking technology. Therefore, virtual network mapping problem in networkvirtualization environments (i.e., resource management and allocation) has veryimportant value to research. This thesis studies the problem of resource allocation and survivability of multi-castapplication in cloud computing based on network virtualization technology. Theobjective of this research is that minimize the total consumption of computing resourceand bandwidth resource (i.e., total mapping cost) while guarantees the requirements onQoS and survivability of multi-cast oriented virtual network. A heuristic algoritm hasbeen proposed for sovling this problem. The author also has designed a platform forvalidating and evaluating the proposed algorithm. The simulation results show that theproposed algorithm with well performances. The Chapter1is the introduction of cloud computing, which including the types, characteristics, state-of-the-art, relative technologies, research issues and commercialproducts of cloud computing and, as well as development history, environment, mainperformance parameters, research projects and direction of network virtualization. In Chapter2, the author first introduces the significance of resource managementalgorithm in cloud computing, and then studies the problem of survivable mapping formulti-cast oriented virtual network. An efficient heuristic algorithm has been proposedfor solving this problem in Chapter2.The author has developed a simulation platform for evaluating the proposedalgorithm by using C++and ILOG CPLEX10.0in Chapter3.In Chapter4, the author has evaluated and verified the algorithm proposed in Chapter2based on the platform developed in Chapter3.
