In recent years, Bistatic Synthetic Aperture Radar (Bistatic SAR) has been one ofthe research focuses in the field of radar technology on the world. Compared with thetraditional monostatic SAR, bistatic SAR whose transmitter and receiver are located atdifferent platforms has the characteristic of anti-electronic jamming, obtaining richerinformation and anti-stealth et.al. However, this configuration makes bistatic SARsystem facing some new technical problems. The first and most important issynchronization technology, including space synchronization, time and frequencysynchronization.Aiming at the space, time and frequency synchronization of bistatic SAR, the mainworks of this paper are summarized as follows:1、The related technologies of bistatic SAR synchronization are analyzed in detail.The schematic diagram of synchronization system of bistatic SAR is given out, theeffect of antenna pointing jitter error on space synchronization, the error of time andfrequency synchronization and the error of echo acquisition on bistatic SAR imagingare analyzed.2、 The model of space synchronization for bistatic SAR is established, asynchronization method based on satellite navigation system and inertial navigationsystem (INS) is designed. The antenna pointing synchronization algorithms of bistaticSAR based on known target’s location and beam direction of transmitting antenna arededuced, and a space synchronization hardware module is developed. The simulationresults and hardware tests validate the effectiveness and correctness of the method ofspace synchronization.3、The implementation of time and frequency synchronization technique is studied.A time and frequency synchronization method using the satellite’s1PPS to tame thelocal clock is designed, a hardware module of time and frequency synchronization isdeveloped, and the test results and data analysis verified the feasibility and validity.4、The echo signal acquisition technology of bistatic SAR is investigated. Thebistatic SAR echo acquisition timing diagram is analysed, an echo signal acquisition method based on synchronous PRF is introduced, while a new method of asynchronousecho signal acquisition for bistatic SAR is proposed.
