Surface mount device is the core equipment of the circuit board industry. Currently theproduction of surface mount devices rely heavily on imports and key equipment is dominatedby foreign manufacturers. It has seriously hampered the development of China’s electronicsmanufacturing industry. Localization of surface mount devices is one of key ways to achievetechnology progress, also it is the only way to be powerful in electronics manufacturing. Thepaper focuses on the composition of the surface mount device placement machine systems, inparticular, a more in-depth study of the localization algorithm of motion control systems,image processing, and software design and other key technologies. The main work of thepaper included:Analysis of the key technologies of the placement equipment, according to theapplication requirements, establish the placement equipment design specifications, planningmotion control system module, visual system module and software system module.The paper analyzes the closed-loop control, motor synchronization and other keytechnologies of surface mount device. Through the simulation analyzation of synchrouscontrol, compensating and tracking control algorithm of slave axis based on fuzzy was putforward, algorithm of dual-drive synchronization control was achieved.The key technology of image processing is another emphasis of this paper. PCB fiducialmark point identification was studied, edge recognition method of Roberts operator, Sobeloperator, Marr-Hildreth operator was compared, by feasibility analyzation on theeffectiveness and timeliness of the operator, Sobel operator was selected for the edgeextraction of PCB fiducial mark point identification. In this paper, the most commonly usedDUAL-packaged devices and QUAD-packaged devices was taken for example, thecomponents center identification and angle recognition method based on region growing wasdiscussed. Experiments showed that this method can meet the application requirements ontimeliness and accuracy of the SMT placement machine.Finally, the system software architecture was established, mount devices functionmodules, software programming on the Windows platform was realized, the placement of IC connectors and LED components on the mount equipment was accomplished. The applicationresults show that the related technology and implementation method of this system is effectiveand feasible. Therefore it has a positive effect on accelerating the localization of theplacement machine.
