With the rapid development of Internet technology and applications, a variety of means ofaccess, increasingly complex network structure, the sharp increase in the number of terminalsmakes the Internet face prominent difficulties in operational control, management, maintenance,and analysis design. Network performance analysis technology can get the key indicators whichmeasure the quality of network operation, carry out fault diagnosis by measurement, analysis andmodeling of network throughput, delay, packet loss. Due to increased competition betweennetwork operators, how to effectively analyze and evaluate network performance has also becomeone of the major network operators are most concerned about.In this paper, the network performance monitoring as a starting point, the first provides anoverview of the situation and development of network measurement and analysis technology, thenfurther information on the network performance monitoring indicators, measurement tools,acquisition techniques and sampling methods, followed by researching flow-based trafficcharacteristics,. Based on these studies, we have employed the network performance assessmentmodel based on passive measurement to get real traffic on the backbone link of the China Scienceand Technology Network, the introduction of the concept of network health through RTT,throughput and the normal connection rate assessing the network performance.The experimental results show that this analytical method can fully meet the actual needs ofthe network operator. Compared to the existing assessment methods, the method is more in-depthand comprehensive nearly on network performance analysis and evaluation is a usefulcomplement to existing assessment analysis system. In addition, it has been deployed as aprototype to the China Science and Technology Network, to achieve real-time monitoring,analysis and evaluation of high-speed traffic on the backbone link that can help networkadministrators understand and analyze network health. |
