Virtualization technology is the underlying technology for cloud computing with a long history of development. It has been widely used as the popularity of cloud computing. Because of heterogeneous of hardware resources, equipped with a wide variety of application services for small-scale private cloud environments, it has its own specific needs for virtualization technology, and not all virtualization technologies are suitable. Virtualization technology has been widely used, traditional network infrastructure of cloud computing data center clearly can not meet the virtual machine’s network management needs.To solve the above problem, this thesis found that KVM is more suitable for building small-scale private cloud than Xen. Followed by in-depth study of the KVM, we cut of some parts of KVM and did performance optimization and functional expansion for KVM. Finally we propose a solution for small-scale private cloud virtual network. The main contents are as follows:· First introduced in today’s mainstream IaaS cloud platform underlying virtualization technology, including virtualization technology, and virtual network solutions SDN and Open Flow user’s perspective and he stood on a small-scale data centers to compare the various technical options;· Then study the details of the KVM virtualization technology, found KVM applied directly in the small-scale private cloud environments has some problems, so we did some of KVM cuttings, the main contents include enhancing the KVM network I/O performance by replacing the default KVM network drivers, increasing the KVM virtual network support for Open Flow virtual network by replacing the default bridge module, in order to manage virtual machines, facilitate the introduction of the libvirt;· For small-scale private cloud application environment, we propose solutions based on Open vSwitch virtual network. We design and experimental assessment of the functionality and performance of Open vSwitch, the results show Open vSwitch is fully applicable. · Finally, we apply the above mentioned proposals specifically for small and medium-sized data center based on OpenNebula of IaaS cloud solutions YNU-Cloud. YNU-Cloud and its virtual and network architecture design is described in detail. At Last we show the deployment of YNU-Cloud.
