Wireless sensor/actuator network is a new type of wireless network whichdeveloped in recent years. No infrastructure and self-organizing is the feature ofthis kind of network. Wireless sensor/actuator network derived from wirelesssensor network and composed of many sensors and actuators. Wireless ad-hocnetworking mode could be used to complete distributed sensing task in this kind ofnetwork. The problem of real-time and energy is the main factor to affect networkperformance in wireless sensor/actuator network. This dissertation researched the architecture of wireless sensor/actuatornetwork and related technologies. At the same time, the dissertation analyzed theinfluence of real time and energy to network performance in wirelesssensor/actuator network. An energy consumption balancing routing protocol basedon node partition (ERPNP) and a real-time clustering routing protocol based onsuccess rate of data transmission between nodes (RCRPSR) were proposed in thisdissertation. The ERPNP protocol allows sensor nodes transmit power as small aspossible based on network maintain connectivity. At the same time, next hop nodeis getting closer away from the actuator. It means that the protocol selecttransmission path with more nodes and smaller transmit power than others. Byfirst-level node clustering, second-level node clustering and actuator node to sinknode routing strategy the RCRPSR protocol selects a data transmission path withhighest success rate. The path reduces the transmission failure rate and datatransmission delay, as a result the real-time performance of the network isimproved.Simulation results show that ERPNP protocol enables network lifetime toextend3~4times compared to traditional protocol and when network data transfersuccess rate drops RCRPSR protocol reduces the transmission delay by2~5timesthan traditional protocols. The overall performance of wireless sensor/actuatornetwork could be further improved by using these protocols.
