The combustion flame is the most direct reflection of characterizing whether combustionstate is stable or not. Whether the furnace safety monitoring system could put into operationsuccessfully or not, it depends largely on the reliability of the flame detectors and theflame-out protection equipment. Therefore, accurate monitoring of furnace flame is one ofthe important means to ensure the safe and stable operation of the boiler.The basic requirement of the furnace flame combustion is to establish and maintain astable combustion. Combustion instability will reduce the efficiency of boiler thermalefficiency, produce large quantities of pollutants and strong noise. What’s more, it maycause flameout of the boiler furnace or pulverized coal deflagration in extreme cases, whichwill result in significant furnace safety incidents. Timely and accurately determining thestability condition of the furnace flame combustion is essential to the safe and efficientoperation of the furnace, contributing to the most efficient use of fuel, the reduction ofproduction costs, and guaranteeing of the safe and reliable operation of the furnace.By monitoring the state of the furnace flame combustion via multiple camera andprocessing the collected furnace flame image information, by researching on the stability ofcombustion and judging whether the combustion is stable or not, this article researches on afurnace flame combustion stability evaluation system based on multi-image processing. Thesystem utilized multi-CCD sensors to capture the furnace flame image and preprocessed theoriginal image. After that, the system researched on the feature area of the flame image, i.e.acquired the partition of the feature area of the flame image through researching on theedge feature of furnace flame image. At last, the system researched on the diagnostictechniques of the stability based on the flame image features.Making TMS320DM642chip as the core and using the modular thought, this articledesigned the power, video codec and external memory circuit to collect video image andbuilt processing system platform, realizing acquisition and processing flame image. Theexperiments show that the system met the basic requirements for the design and provided agood solution for the fire security detection system, in hope of achieving a certain degree ofsocial and economic benefits.
