Analyzing Discourse Structure In Risk Communication By The Perspective Of Critical Discourse Analysis-Taking The Plasticizer In Liquor Event As An Example

In a risky society like China, risk events happen frequently, which means that the awareness of risk communication should be run through media’s day-to-day communication behavior. Either showing early warming of the crisis or resolving the crisis are the responsibilities that mas media should take.The entry point of the news that mass media reported,the information which provided and the way the languages are organized will interfere the public’s judgment of the risk.If such reports weren’t based on the facts, the mass media is likely to exaggerate an existing"risk" as well as bringing about new "risk". Critical discourse analysis can link the form, production and consumption of the language with social power structure, revealing the impact ideology has on discourse, the reaction of the discourse to ideology, how these two originate from social structure and how power relaticritical ons works in social structure. Dutch linguist Van Dick combines text orientation and power-oriented discourse analysis based on discourse analysis in the previous study. He considered news discourse as public words from the aspects of sociology, linguistics, discourse analysis, and psychology. This new interdisciplinary discourse analysis perspective has deepen the level of discourse analysis both in theory and in practice, and has broaden the scope and field of discourse analysis. More importantly, from the news media disciplines, Van Dick’s critical discourse analysis theory has a profound methodological significance.Therefore, this article starts from the point of view of media discourse, based on linguistics, literary theory, semiotics, sociology and communication studies, adopting the critical discourse analysis method by Van Dick, analyzes the text and context of news on the plasticizer in liquor event covered by China Wine News and the21st Century Network; by comparing the length, paragraphs, titles, styles and rhetoric of the two reports, this article analyzes the discourse structure of risk communication and tries to offer some advisory opinions for the effective spreading and acceptance of risk information by the perspective of news discourse.
